Denne egenskab skyldes dets evne til at danne en hydrogel ved kontakt med vand, som indkapsler vandet i polymermatrixen. Det g\u00f8r det meget effektivt til anvendelser, der kr\u00e6ver fugtkontrol og -opbevaring.
